Environmental issues are at the heart of the concerns of a growing portion of the world’s population, and for good reason: we have only one planet and at the moment, our collective record of its preservation is poor. Faced with this problem, some become discouraged and choose not to change their behaviour because they believe it would make no difference, while others are working to do their part to make a difference through small gestures such as recycling or carpooling. Fortunately, technology is evolving almost as fast as mentalities and it is now possible to lead a fulfilling and pleasant existence while minimizing its impact on the environment. At Maison Bioclimat, this is what we firmly believe and what we dedicate ourselves to day after day.
Currently, we are devoting the majority of our efforts to the Boisé Bioclimat project. This is an initiative to create a living space organized around energy-efficient and bioclimatic “passive house” -type houses. The Municipality of Sainte-Béatrix declares in Resolution Number 137.05.18: “The project is innovative in terms of energy efficiency and that it aims to become a showcase for this type of construction”.
In the wake of recycling, energy-efficient utilities, and hybrid and electric vehicles, the passive house is the next step in a modern, comfortable and environmentally friendly lifestyle. When we talk about a passive house, conceptually, what are we referring to? We are talking about a house that passively uses optimal solar radiation, internal heat sources and heat recovery, minimizing the need to use external devices to make it habitable year round.
